The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) was established in 1990 through the merger of three institutions: the East of Scotland College of Agriculture (founded in 1901), the Aberdeen and North of Scotland College of Agriculture (1904), and the West of Scotland Agricultural College (1899).
SAC became the largest institution of its kind in the UK, and one of the largest in Europe. In addition to its traditional teaching and research programs, SAC also provided advisory and consultancy services across Scotland. Now known as Scotland’s Rural University College (SRUC).
