Netherlands

The Netherlands, often called Holland, is a wonderful country in Western Europe known for its rich cultural heritage and innovative spirit. Its capital, Amsterdam, is a vibrant city filled with picturesque canals, iconic windmills, and beautiful tulip fields that bloom in a riot of colors each spring. The Dutch take great pride in their high quality of life, making it an inviting place for both residents and international students.

Studying abroad in the Netherlands is a fantastic way to pick up a new language, but don’t stress if that’s not your top priority. The Dutch are among the best non-native English speakers in the world, so you’ll have no trouble getting by. Plus, there are plenty of English-taught courses available. So, while you take your time learning Dutch, you can still fully enjoy your studies and make the most of your experience in the Netherlands.

As an international student in the Netherlands, you have the opportunity to work while studying. Non-EU students can work up to 17 hours per week during the academic year or full-time during summer; June, July, and August. There are no restrictions on internships, no matter where you’re from.

Graduates from the Netherlands can remain in the country for up to 12 months after completing their studies through the Orientation Year (zoekjaar) permit. This allows them to explore job opportunities or even start a business without needing a work permit during this period.

The Netherlands boasts an excellent public transport system that can get you wherever you need to go. Whether it’s by train, bus, metro, tram, or ferry, traveling around the country is a breeze. With just one OV-chip card, you can hop on any form of public transport.
